This series of design proposals for a bridge at Les Salines Waterfront in Port Louis explores how infrastructure can go beyond function—becoming a cultural landmark and symbol of progress.
Developed under the Port Louis Road Decongestion Programme, the project evolved through three conceptual versions, culminating in a striking cable-stayed design inspired by the Diwali flame.
At Architects Studio, technology is more than a tool—it is integral to shaping meaningful, human-centred design. Through drone surveys, 3D photogrammetry, and immersive 360° virtual walkthroughs, we create clarity, empathy, and deeper client engagement from the outset. Our Chamarel project illustrates this approach, where advanced mapping transformed topography into the foundation of the design, ensuring harmony between architecture and nature.
By blending innovation with cultural sensitivity, technology enhances sustainability, strengthens communication, and empowers clients to participate in the creative journey. For us, elevating experience means merging cutting-edge tools with timeless design values to inspire and connect.
As Mauritius celebrates Independence Day, we are reminded that our architecture is more than buildings—it is a reflection of identity, progress, and responsibility. Today, our cities stand at a crossroads. To thrive, they must evolve into regenerative environments that prioritise people, nature, and resilience. This vision calls for long-term planning, strong partnerships, and urban renewal that enhances connectivity while reducing carbon impact. The O2 Walk in Port Louis exemplifies this ambition, proposing a pedestrian-first, green corridor that reconnects the city with its maritime heritage. By embracing regenerative design, Mauritius can shape urban spaces that inspire, sustain, and endure.
The O2 Walk represents the culmination of a thoughtful study and reflection undertaken by Transinvest Construction Ltd in partnership with Architects’ Studio Ltd, aimed solely at exploring research and development in modern urban practices. As a conceptual exploration, this concept serves as an academic exercise to investigate potential enhancements in urban living and is not intended for implementation.
