Our practice

Founded in 2004 by Didier Dove and Pierre-Yves Serret, Architects Studio Ltd (ASL) began as a two-person team and has grown into an award-winning architectural practice based in Mauritius. Serving a diverse clientele across the Indo-Asian and African regions, we specialise in architecture, urban design, and interior design, overseeing projects from inception through to completion. Our firm was built on a vision to create a platform where architects can excel and innovate, delivering designs that are both sustainable and contextually relevant. We are committed to producing functionally elegant spaces that enhance human experiences and embody cultural harmony and environmental responsibility. Today, ASL represents excellence in architectural design, pushing creative boundaries to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations.

Collaboration is central to our success. Our office is thoughtfully designed with collaborative spaces that foster the free flow of ideas, solutions, and creativity among our team. This collaborative spirit extends beyond our walls, as we engage with external partners who play a vital role in defining our architectural projects. Together, we harness collective expertise to innovate and excel.

Our Process: From Vision to Reality

1. Inception

We begin by establishing a solid foundation for the project. This includes performing due diligence, finalising contract agreements, and understanding the client’s specific needs through a detailed client brief.

2. Concept & Viability

We explore the feasibility of the project with thorough site analysis and preliminary space planning. This stage helps us create an initial site plan and concept that align perfectly with the client’s vision and the site's potential.

3. Design Development

Our team develops detailed sections, elevations, and roof plans, enriching the initial concept. We hold coordination meetings with consultants to refine the design, culminating in the validation of the final concept to ensure it meets all expectations.

4. Documentation & Procurement

During this phase, we prepare all necessary documentation, including statutory submissions and permit drawings. We also handle the syndic architect approval, create the tender pack, and finalise construction documentation, setting the stage for actual building.

5. Construction

As construction begins, we stay involved through regular site visits and compile quality reports to ensure everything is proceeding according to plan and to the highest standards.

6. Close Out

The final stage includes thorough snagging to address any issues, preparing 'as-made' drawings that document the completed project, and obtaining completion certificates. This ensures every detail is perfected and officially recognised.

Our foreseeable future

At Architects Studio, we are setting our sights beyond the African continent and the Indian ocean rim, aiming to bring our architectural expertise to the global stage. To achieve this, we have founded Pangea Design Group, a collective of architectural firms together with Design Partnership (South Africa) and Studio dsq (Ireland), renowned for their strong commitment to placemaking and sustainability.

This collaboration not only expands our geographical footprint but also enriches our designs with diverse perspectives and expert insights, ensuring that each project we undertake is both innovative and environmentally conscious.
