Quality Site Inspector

Job summary

The Quality Site Inspector will carry out systematic inspections on construction sites and issue clear, reliable quality reports. The role safeguards the approved design, specifications and contract requirements by monitoring workmanship and materials, documenting non-conformities, coordinating inspections and tests, and following corrective actions through to close-out.

Main Responsibilities

· Inspect construction works at agreed stages to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and contract requirements.
· Maintain project submittal logs, drawing registers, inspection records, checklists, test records and other project-specific quality-control documents.
· Review shop drawings, material submittals and samples for conformity, consulting relevant project team members where specialist input is required.
· Prepare accurate daily, weekly and ad hoc inspection reports, supported by photographs and clear records of observations, actions and responsibilities.
· Identify, document and communicate defects or non-conformities; monitor corrective action and re-inspect work before it is covered up or accepted.
· Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up inspections or meetings for key work activities to confirm that approved procedures and checklists are in place.
· Verify that materials delivered to site match approved submittals and are appropriately handled, protected and stored.
· Witness specified tests undertaken by contractors or subcontractors and record whether the required control measures and acceptance criteria have been met.
· Coordinate inspection activities with the project architect, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and client representatives.
· Monitor the maintenance of as-built information and report any quality, safety or progress issue requiring escalation to the project lead or quality manager.
· Support the preparation of tender and construction documentation by contributing practical quality and buildability observations.
· Assist with snagging, practical completion, handover and close-out documentation, including outstanding-work lists, certificates and defect-notification records.
· Travel to project sites as required and carry out all inspections in accordance with site health and safety procedures.

Qualifications And Experience

· Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architectural Technology or a related field.
· Three to five years’ relevant experience in building construction, site inspection or quality control.
· Practical knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, samples, testing and site-quality procedures.
· Good understanding of building methods, materials, applicable regulations and health and safety requirements.

Key Skills And Competencies

· Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings and specifications.
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and standard reporting and document-management tools.
· Strong observation, analytical and problem-solving skills, with rigorous attention to detail.
· Clear, objective written reporting and confident verbal communication.
· Strong planning and organisation, with the ability to prioritise inspections across several active sites.
· Professional judgement, tact and confidence when addressing non-conforming work with project stakeholders.
