Architectural Draughtsperson
Job summary
Main Responsibilities
· Prepare accurate architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules and construction packages, using CAD and BIM software.
· Develop and update 2D drawings, 3D models and BIM information from sketches, mark-ups, surveys, consultant inputs and approved design information.
· Translate design concepts into technically resolved, coordinated and buildable documentation without compromising the approved design intent.
· Collate technical information from architects, interior designers, engineers, quantity surveyors and specialist consultants.
· Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, consistency, dimensional coordination and compliance with office standards.
· Identify discrepancies, clashes, missing information and practical construction risks, and raise them promptly with the project lead.
· Incorporate survey information, authority comments, consultant revisions and site feedback into current project documentation.
· Support statutory submissions, tender packages, schedules, specifications, drawing registers and issue records.
· Assist in reviewing shop drawings, samples, as-built information and contractor submissions against the coordinated design documentation.
· Attend coordination meetings and site visits when required, recording relevant information and updating drawings accordingly.
· Maintain organised project files, drawing registers, revision control and BIM/CAD standards throughout the project lifecycle.
· Contribute to quality-control reviews and continually develop knowledge of building technology, materials, regulations and digital workflows.
Qualifications And Experience
· Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Building Design, Construction or a related discipline.
· Relevant experience producing architectural and construction documentation within an architectural, engineering or construction environment.
· A portfolio or work samples demonstrating precise technical drawings and coordinated project information.
· Good understanding of construction methods, detailing, materials, building systems and relevant codes and regulations.
Key Skills And Competencies
· Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; knowledge of Archicad, SketchUp or other BIM/3D software would be an advantage.
· Excellent technical drawing, detailing, spatial and dimensional coordination skills.
· Working knowledge of BIM processes, drawing standards, document control and revision management.
· Methodical and detail-oriented, with strong checking and problem-solving ability.
· Clear communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, consultants and site teams.
· Good organisation and time management, with the ability to manage several drawing packages and deadlines.
