The project
O Petit Parc
Belle Vue, Mauritius
O Petit Parc is conceived as a low-density residential development where architecture is shaped by the landscape rather than imposed upon it. Set within a mature green environment in Belle Vue, the project brings together 36 apartments across a series of three-storey buildings, carefully positioned to preserve existing vegetation and maintain a discreet presence within the site.
The architectural approach is deliberately restrained. Clean, contemporary volumes are articulated through deep overhangs, recessed façades and vertical shading elements, all responding to the tropical climate. Buildings are slightly elevated, allowing the ground plane to remain open, permeable and richly landscaped—reinforcing the idea of living within a garden setting.
At the centre of the development, a landscaped park and communal pool define the project’s social core. Framed by the residential blocks and connected by shaded pedestrian pathways, this shared space encourages informal interaction while maintaining a calm and private atmosphere. The pool pavilion follows the same architectural language, ensuring continuity across the site.
Apartments are designed to maximise comfort and liveability. Generous openings and terraces allow for natural cross-ventilation, daylight and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Orientation is carefully considered to frame views towards greenery while preserving privacy between units.
Materiality remains simple and robust, with neutral tones and textured finishes that sit comfortably within the surrounding landscape. Passive design strategies, including solar shading and natural ventilation, support long-term environmental performance.
O Petit Parc offers a measured balance between density and openness, where architecture, landscape and everyday living are closely connected.
