The project
Mila Mina
Nosy B, Madagascar
Involved in the masterplan, hotel, and spa design, Mila Mina is a celebration of traditional Malagasy architecture infused with modern luxury. Situated along a pristine coastline, the hotel features thatched roofs and elaborate carpentry, echoing Madagascar’s rich cultural heritage while providing contemporary comforts.
To elevate the sensory experience, a diverse palette of materials and textures is employed throughout. Timber, metal, stone, breeze blocks, and a selection of fabrics come together to create spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and harmonious with the natural surroundings. These materials add depth and character, enhancing the connection between the built environment and the landscape.
A standout feature of Mila Mina is its pool, which opens directly to the ocean, offering guests an unforgettable experience of seamless transition between water and horizon. The design maximises breathtaking views, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the ocean while enjoying the hotel’s amenities.
The spa continues the theme of harmony with nature and tradition, incorporating natural materials and traditional design elements to create a serene environment for relaxation.
By blending traditional Malagasy motifs with modern design principles, Mila Mina offers a unique and authentic experience, honouring local culture while providing a luxurious retreat.
