The project
Life Viva and Life Nova+ Healthcare Clinic
Tamarin, Mauritius
The Life Viva and Life Nova+ Clinic, located in Tamarin on the west coast of Mauritius, stands as a example of innovation in healthcare architecture, conceived and brought to life by Architects Studio in collaboration with Bloomage Property Fund. This project transforms an existing building into a landmark of wellness and community care, reflecting a design philosophy that seamlessly marries functionality with elegance.
A striking feature of the clinic is its double-volume entrance and distinctive roof silhouette, which are set against a cohesive material palette that exudes both innovation and timeless beauty. The architectural design makes a bold statement while enhancing the facility’s overall functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Sustainable practices are deeply woven into the fabric of the clinic’s architecture. Strategic use of screens and pergolas manipulates natural light to cast evolving patterns throughout the day, enhancing the connection to the natural environment and embodying a commitment to harness natural elements for both aesthetic and functional benefits.
Inside the clinic, meticulous attention to detail ensures that every element prioritises the comfort and convenience of patients, visitors, and staff. The design responds with sensitivity to the climatic nuances of Tamarin, extending this thoughtful approach to the outdoor spaces. Here, landscaped planters do more than just beautify; they actively contribute to the clinic’s microclimate, providing cooling and shaded areas that improve environmental quality and foster a healing atmosphere.
The Life Viva and Life Nova+ Clinic is more than just a healthcare facility; it is a space where architecture and nature converge to promote healing, inspire wellbeing, and enhance community health. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design can create spaces that not only meet functional needs but also enrich the human experience.
