ENL House is the headquarters of ENL, one of the largest corporate groups in Mauritius. It is located on the grounds of an old sugar factory now converted to the lush setting of Vivéa Business Park. This office project owes its unique brief to the rich history of this site. Much of the design inspiration is a direct reflection of the client’s passion to stay true to their roots and to a Mauritian context which encourages connections with people and nature – looking back to a simpler way of life. The main objective of the design brief was to create a new head office building which would centralise and consolidate the various departments under the ENL Group, and provide ample opportunity and space for future growth. ENL House was conceptualised as a landmark building that would serve as a beacon on site, showcasing contemporary architecture in Mauritius and playing between the delicate balance of historic references & modernist forms.
